We know that it can be intimidating walking into a brand new place and feeling like you don't know what you're doing or where to go. Hopefully this information will help you feel more prepared for your visit to FCOG.
WHERE DO I PARK?
We have parking on both sides of our church facility. Or recommendation for guests, is to park in our East Parking Lot (on the corner of SE 1st and Rowe). This will allow you to enter through our front doors and find our Welcome Center and more importantly a counter with coffee and an assortment of muffins, cheese sticks and fresh fruit!
WHEN ARE YOUR SERVICES?
8:45am . Early Worship - Our early service is a vibrant time of worship, that features more traditional gospel songs and hymns of our faith.
11am . Late Worship - Our late service is comprised of more contemporary and modern worship.
WHAT ABOUT POTENTIALLY AWKWARD MOMENTS?
Both of these Sunday morning worship experiences feature the same message, but with a different feel to the musical aspects. When you first enter the Sanctuary feel free to find a seat wherver you are most comfortable. You can expect a time where we briefly shake hands with the people seated around us. We share in Communion the first Sunday of each month. We believe that this celebration of remembering Christ's death and resurrection is for anyone who follows Him as their Lord and Savior. Even if you are not a regular attender at FCOG, but are a follower of Christ, we invite you to participate in this act of worship. If you are not yet a follower of Christ it is acceptable to forgo this aspect of the service. Through prayer, singing, and Bible teaching that strives to connect to your real life, we hope that you will find Sunday worship encouraging, challenging, and walk away having experienced the presence of God. We also have a Connection Card in the Sunday Bulletin. We ask that guests leave some information with us so that we can communicate our gratitude for your visit. We will not abuse this information, but if you are not comfortable sharing your address/email with us on your first visit, we understand...just leave the card blank!
WHAT DO I WEAR?
When you attend you will find a large variety of dress. Some people come in jeans, shorts, t-shirts, others come in dresses, button-ups and ties. The bottom line is that we want you to come however you feel most comfortable. Please don't let your wardrobe become an obstacle from connecting here at FCOG.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
There is a Welcome Center counter in the front lobby of the church. If a greeter has not already met you, feel free to seek direction from someone at the Welcome Counter. They will find out the ages of your children and then be able to direct you to the appropriate classes or nursery care. There is nursery care (birth-3 yrs) provided during the 8:45 service, and ministries for birth through 4th grade available during the 11am service.
IS THERE ANYTHING BEYOND THE SERVICE?
One of the best ways to meet people and connect on a deeper level is to plug into a Sunday School class. Sunday School meets each Sunday at 10am between our two morning services. Most people who attend FCOG are connected to one of our 8 adult Sunday School classes. We have brochures at the Welcome Center that give greater detail about available classs. Throughout the Sunday School hour there are also classes for all ages of kids and youth (birth through 12th grade). A Greeter or Welcome Center attendant will be happy to answer any questions you may have about Sunday School and help direct you to a class. We also host a regular Meet & Greet time at 10am every few weeks for people to meet the pastoral staff, ask questions about the church and our ministries and express further interest about greater involvement.
